About Davenport Park

Why Stockport's Secret Suburb? Because most people say on their first visit to Davenport Park "We never knew this was here!"

Travellers on the A6 and the Manchester to Buxton railway commute along our borders without seeing into this peaceful suburban environment. Drive through the gated entrance - only one is open to vehicles - and you join a triangle of wide, tree-lined roads where the only cars belong to the residents and their visitors.

This distinctive triangle of roads was developed into an exclusive residential suburb between 1872 and the second world war. Post-war developments of flats and town houses on the borders of the estate create diversity without detracting from the architectural quality of the Park.

An elected committee of residents is responsible for maintaining the private roads and protecting the character and environment of the Park.

Although secluded, the Park is not remote. We are well served by public transport. Good local shops and nursery, primary and secondary schools are all within easy walking distance. See the Links page for details.
